Women and War

Well, I’m a woman, Tristram, and women hate war. As mothers and nurturers our instincts are for life, and I feel a little feminine shudder everytime I read about a soldier being murdered. But this war has a purpose; it’s a war for our values, of decency and freedom; a war against disorder. Sometimes a little bit of unpleasantness is necessary in order that the community survives. We must all learn to be little less selfish and put social values above our own personal likes and dislikes.

Zoe--

Same time Friday evening. Will you bring the strap-on and aloe vera? I have the students' essays and Rohypnol.

Aloe vera does indeed have some marvellous properties. Its unique DNA revitalises the body holistically, boosting the immune system with its natural antioxidants, cleansing the system of toxins with living enzymes. It’s an amazing legacy from the cul-tural heritage of the Mayans of thousands of years ago, bequeathed to us by the Goddess, or the force that creates balance and harmony in the biosphere, if you prefer a more secular and scientific vocabulary.

But now listen Clare. I am well aware of your obsessions and predilections. I suggest that you are a little more careful, that you leave the past alone. Power is omnipresent and indefeasible and impossible to avoid employing. And despite its patriarchal essence, I have some of that power, Clare. I am not without influence with Feramor. He has interesting, if unsound, ideas on the deviant character that he would like experimental confirmation for. He seeks subjects.
